Anton Hüller
In my collection:
While definitive historical records regarding Anton Hüller remain scarce, his workshop operated at the absolute zenith of the Bohemian brass making tradition. At the close of the nineteenth century, his hometown of Graslitz, Bohemia, had solidified its reputation as the global epicenter for musical instrument manufacturing. The region was home to numerous craftsmen sharing the Hüller surname, creating a complex web of workshops whose exact familial relationships and overlapping business ventures remain a challenge for modern historians to fully untangle.
The lineage of Anton's specific enterprise is tied closely to the earlier generations of Graslitz builders, connecting him to the foundational era of the region's industrial boom. Historical evidence strongly suggests that Anton was the son of the established instrument manufacturer Emanuel Hüller. Following this family lineage, Anton likely took over the reins of his father's company in 1916, rebranding the firm under his own name during the tumultuous middle years of the First World War and securing his own independent place in the rich history of Bohemian lutherie.
