Ansingh Bass Trumpet update

The 1st valve of my D. Ansingh Bass Trumpet has been bothering me ever since it went bad. Something about this instrument makes me want to play it, but with the 1st valve gone bad this wasn't possible. A few days ago I picked it up to have a better look at it and I discovered a small gap in the valve itself. Just a small gap between the port and the valve body where the soldering was gone. I cleaned it up and closed it as good as possible without soldering it yet ( I think I should solder it, but my soldering skills aren't very good so it will probably get very messy).
I tried playing it again and the 1st valve sounded much better, but only when I pushed the valve halfway through. Then I noticed the bumper corks where almost gone and the valve was able to rotate too far, causing the problem. So now I have ordered some new bumpers and will see if that can solve it.
When playing, I also tried some different mouthpieces. As you may know, when I first played this instrument I thought it was pitched close to E with the mouthpiece I was using. However, now I noticed that with other mouthpieces it was closer to Eb in the Low to Mid register but getting severely out of tune in the Higher register. When the 1st valve issue is properly solved, I will look more closely into this. I also have two pigtail crooks on the way that might help.
