GLASSA TARV Trumpet (1930's)
This instrument is a B♭ trumpet manufactured by GLASSA, showcasing a highly distinctive and mechanically fascinating valve system known as TARV: Top Action Rotary Valves. As the name self-explanatorily implies, the instrument utilizes rotary valves, but with a clever engineering twist—the finger buttons are situated directly on top of the casing, rather than along the side as seen on traditional rotary brasses.
Throughout the instrument, the number 10 appears stamped onto several individual component parts, which strongly suggests it serves as the factory serial number. Given this remarkably early production digit, it is highly probable that this trumpet was crafted during the opening years of the company's production line, likely sometime in the early 1930s.
