Josef Lidl

In my collection:

Company website:

Josef Lídl founded his company in Brno in 1892. Initially he just sold musical instruments, but in 1895 his company starts making their own brass instruments.
In 1904 the production became more important than the sales and Josef Lídl Brno instruments become very popular, especially in Austro-Hungary and Russia. In 1945 the Czech Philharmonic horn section plays on Josef Lídl Brno horns exclusively.
After WWII, production slows down and in 1948 the company is nationalized in the Amati Group. In 1989 the ownership is returned to the original family and in 2017 the company becomes part of the Arnold Stölzel GmbH. It is still active, but now based in Hradec Králové.
