About the maker:
This is my 9-key Ophicleide in Bb by Gautrot.
It is very unclear when Gautrot started using the Anchor logo so it is unclear when this instrument was made exactly. Possibly between 1875 when the name "Gautrot Breveté a Paris" with anchor logo was registered -although it is possible they already used this before- and 1877, when the name changed to Gautrot Ainé, Durand & Cie. However, as said the logo and name may have been used as early as 1845 so an exact date is impossible to give.
After revision, it plays very nice, almost similar to my other , unnamed, Bb Ophi.
