Couesnon (1926)
About the maker:
Couesnon Série SO No. 1 Cornet
Archived Collection Piece: This instrument is no longer held in the physical collection.
This B♭ cornet, manufactured by the prominent French workshop Couesnon & Cie. in 1926, represents a brand that remains central to my focus as a collector. Because a Couesnon cornet was the very first vintage brass instrument I ever acquired, this manufacturer holds a special significance for me, inspiring me to curate several of their historical models over the years. This particular specimen matches the technical layout of the Série SO No. 1, which was historically marketed as Couesnon's most basic student-grade model. Aside from a slightly sluggish third valve action, the instrument survived in very good, fully playable condition. However, because it is rather plain-looking and not particularly rare, I ultimately decided to sell it to make physical space in my display cases after I came across an older, much better-looking Couesnon model to replace it.
