Kessels Rotary Cornet "Système Prototype"

This B♭ cornet was built between 1895 and May 1908 in Tilburg, the Netherlands, by the renowned instrument factory of M.J.H. Kessels. The instrument features a rotary valve mechanism equipped with a Trommeldruckwerk (clock-spring action). This robust valve system reflects the high manufacturing standards and attention to mechanical durability that characterized Kessels' production around the turn of the 20th century.

Currently, there is a broken solder joint at the connection from the leadpipe to the valve block, and the spring inside the second valve mechanism is broken, preventing the valve from returning automatically. With the loose connection taped shut, the instrument produces a lovely cornet sound.
