Couesnon (1902)
About the maker:
Manufactured in 1902, this outstanding cornet stands as a beautifully preserved example of early 20th-century French brass engineering. Unlike traditional raw brass horns, this model features a nickel-silver finish, which provides a unique historical look and excellent long-term durability.
Nearly a century and a quarter after leaving the factory, this instrument remains in very good playable condition.
While nickel-silver provides excellent protection against deep metal corrosion, it has a distinct physical trait: it tends to lose its brilliance and grow dull quite quickly when exposed to air. Instead of a modern high-gloss polish, this horn retains its authentic, slightly muted vintage appearance.
Thanks to the protective qualities of its coating, the underlying metal has successfully resisted major structural decay, allowing the internal pistons and external slides to move smoothly today.
