Boosey & Co. "N.V.A. Silbron" (1927)
About the maker:
Hear me play this instrument on
Manufactured around 1927, this premier cornet by the celebrated British maker Boosey & Co. stands as a crown jewel of interwar brass engineering. It represents the pinnacle of the company's craftsmanship just a few years before their historic merger with Hawkes & Son.
This cornet has been meticulously preserved and arrived at my home resting inside its original, vintage leather case.
The bell features a remarkably crisp, beautifully detailed hand-cut floral engraving, showcasing the high-end decorative luxury offered to professional players of the 1920s.
Unlike many instruments of its age, this horn remains in very good playable condition. Its exceptional airtightness and smooth mechanics allow it to sound just as vibrant today as it did nearly a century ago.
