C. Mahillon "510" (1937)

This instrument is a Model 510 Alto Horn manufactured by the legendary Belgian maker Mahillon in 1937—but more importantly, it is the exact horn that sparked this entire section of my collection. Found for just a few Euros during the boredom of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, this instrument fulfilled a long-held wish to experiment with the alto register. It proved to be so much fun to play that a newfound fascination was born, instantly turning a single lockdown purchase into a passion to collect and preserve even more alto horns.
